I chose the nom de plume 'fellrnr' for several reasons. Firstly, 'fell running' is the English term for trail running, coming from old Norse Fjell, meaning hill. However, 'fell' also means 'Of an inhumanly cruel nature; fierce'. More mundanely it means to one who has taken a fall. This ambiguity appeals to me.
 
For most of my life I avoided exercise due to a genetic skin condition [[Epidermolysis Bullosa]]. As a result, I eventually gained enough weight to inspire me to start running. You can see the before and after pictures below.
